Cinderella and the Glass Slipper

Cinderella did every chore for her finely dressed stepsisters. They refused to take her to the royal ball. “Kind heart, steady feet,” Cinderella whispered, crying beside the hearth.
Because Cinderella cried, her fairy godmother came to help. “Bring me a pumpkin and six mice,” said the fairy. Cinderella gathered the roundest pumpkin and six garden mice before her.
With one bright wave, magic filled the garden. The pumpkin became a coach, and the mice became six gray horses. Cinderella’s patched dress shimmered into a silver-blue gown, and her worn shoes became glass slippers.
Before Cinderella departed, the fairy gave one warning. “Everything changes at midnight, so leave before the clock finishes.” Cinderella promised, and the golden coach rolled toward the palace.
At the palace, the prince welcomed Cinderella into the ballroom. “Kind heart, steady feet,” Cinderella whispered. They smiled while dancing beneath hundreds of warm candles.
Then the midnight clock began ringing twelve times. Remembering the warning, Cinderella hurried down the palace steps as her gown and coach faded away. One glass slipper slipped off, but Cinderella reached home safely in her patched dress.
The prince followed, but he reached the steps too late. He held the fallen slipper and remembered the kind dancer. “I will search every home,” he promised.
Days later, a royal helper brought the slipper to Cinderella’s home. Each stepsister tried, hoping she was the mysterious dancer. The tiny slipper fit neither foot.
Because everyone deserved a turn, the helper invited Cinderella forward. The slipper fit, and Cinderella showed its shining twin. Her stepsisters stared as they recognized the ballroom dancer.
At once, the stepsisters apologized for treating Cinderella unkindly. Cinderella forgave them because she wanted a kinder family. The three sisters shared a gentle hug.
Soon the prince welcomed Cinderella back to the peaceful palace. They married beneath flowered arches, with friends smiling nearby. Cinderella finally had a safe, loving home.
That night, Cinderella and the prince watched moonlight fill their room. Kindness shines brighter than fine clothes.
